This is a civil administrative action by EPA against Dole Food Company, Inc. (Respondent), of Honolulu, Hawaii, pursuant to the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), for Respondent's alleged violations of the SDWA and the Underground Injection Control (UIC) requirements by failing to close illegal cesspools located on Respondent's property. Respondent agrees to pay a civil penalty of $145,000, and to remove the cesspools, install new, compliant individual wastewater systems, and submit to EPA a copy of the Backfill Closure Reports and Hawaii Department of Health approval for the IWSs installed at the property.
