Region 10 Settles with City of Richfield (Richfield, ID) for CWA Violations
On 08/17/2018, Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order resolving violations of the Clean Water Act by City of Richfield, Richfield, Idaho. Respondent, which operates a wastewater treatment facility, discharged pollutants to the Little Wood River exceeding its NPDES permit limits for pH, total residual chlorine (TRC), Escherichia coli (E. coli), and 5-day biological oxygen demand (BOD). The city is now on a track towards full compliance and doing so will improve the water quality of the Little Wood River, which is water quality limited due to several pollutants including bacteria and dissolved oxygen.
