The settlement addresses violations of the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regarding the storage and disposal of hazardous waste at the Steelfab facility in Anchorage, AK. The facility is owned by RJH, Inc., a family trust, and is in an industrial area just north of downtown Anchorage. The violations include disposal of at least one drum of ignitable hazardous waste, which the company was not aware of, and mismanagement of containers of hazardous waste and universal waste. Steelfab agreed to pay a penalty of $42,000, and has shipped all hazardous waste that was the focus of this settlement to appropriate treatment and disposal facilities. Steelfab now operates as a very small quantity generator .
