Region 10 Settles with Woodgrain Millwork, Inc. (Emmett, ID) for CWA Violations
On April 12, 2019, Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order resolving violations of the Clean Water Act by Woodgrain Millwork, Inc. (Respondent), located in Emmett, Idaho. Respondent, which operated a construction site at the Woodgrain Millwork facility, had an unauthorized discharge of sediment into an on-site unnamed channel which flows to the waters of the United States. This enforcement action is the end result of what began as a citizen complaint submitted to EPA and, ultimately, this settlement is critical in both responding to public concerns and maintaining water quality of the receiving waters. Indiscriminate dumping of sediment into tributaries can lead to downstream flooding, erosion of streambanks, and degradation of fish and wildlife habitat. The Respondent agreed to pay a penalty of $20,000.
