## Summary

On March 13, 2019, EPA Region III entered into a CAFO with TNEMEC Company, Inc., of Kansas City, Missouri (Respondent), for alleged violations of Section 313 of EPCRA at its Baltimore, Maryland facility. The parties agreed to a settlement penalty of $18,000 for alleged violations that involved a failure to file Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Reports for polycyclic aromatic compounds (PACs) for 2015 and for glycol ethers for 2016, both toxic chemicals, which was discovered during a 2018 inspection at the Baltimore facility. The reportable PACs were 32 times greater than the required reporting threshold. PACs are considered to be Persistent Bioaccumulative Toxic Chemicals (PBTs), thus posing a greater threat to human health and the environment.
