This case involves the failure of CountryMark Refining and Logistics, LLC at its Mt. Vernon, Indiana refinery to perform statistical quality control procedures on instruments used to test benzene in gasoline during 2016 - 2018 as required by the Clean Air Act (CAA).
As part of the settlement with EPA, CountryMark paid a $226,200 civil penalty and retired approximately 72,000 benzene credits.
