On August 14, 2019, Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order to resolve a Resource
Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) permit violation by Perma-Fix Northwest Richland, Inc. at
their Richland, WA facility. This RCRA treatment and storage facility primarily manages mixed waste
from the Department of Energy Hanford site and the permit required compliance with third party
liability financial assurance requirements. In 2013-2014, the facility?s liability insurance policy did not
provide adequate coverage for third party bodily injury and property damage claims. The company
agreed to pay a penalty of $23,375.
