On September 30, 2019, Region 3 issued a NORA to Mushroom Supply & Services, Inc. of Newark, Delaware for importing a disinfectant/sanitizer solution intended to inhibit mold and pathogens that can affect mushroom crop. Any substance intended for preventing, destroying, repelling, or mitigating any pest such as bacteria, virus, or other microorganisms must be registered under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). The product in this import shipment was not registered as a pesticide with the EPA, and the distribution of this product through importation is a violation of FIFRA. The violation was discovered through spot?checks of U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Automated Commercial Environment database.
