Region 1 issued a Clean Water Act Administrative Compliance Order to the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth on November 14, 2019, requiring the University to submit to EPA a complete and accurate notice of intent (NOI) required by the 2016 General Permit for Stormwater Discharges from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) in Massachusetts (2016 MS4 Permit). Stormwater discharges from the University's MS4 is currently unauthorized because the University failed to submit a complete NOI as required by the 2016 MS4 Permit. The Region coordinated closely with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on this matter.
