On February 11, 2020, EPA issued a Clean Water Act administrative order to the City of Taunton, Massachusetts for violations of its NPDES permit. The order establishes requirements and a schedule for the City to evaluate and implement options for achieving compliance with the permit limits related to flow, copper, and nitrogen. EPA implements the NPDES program in Massachusetts, but has worked in coordination with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection in this matter.
