The United States Environmental Protection Agency, Region IX (EPA) and Central Valley Meat Company, Incorporated (Respondent) enter into this Administrative Consent Order for the purpose of bringing Respondent's public water system, PWS ID CA1600050, located in Hanford, CA, into compliance with the requirements of the feral Safe Drinking Act and its National Primary Drinking Water Regulations. Well #5 at the System has exceeded the MCL for arsenic of 10 ug/L since at least 2017, based upon a running annual average derived from quarterly sampling data. Following Respondent's initial compliance with the arsenic MCL. Respondent shall maintain continuous compliance with arsenic MCL for all water the System serves to its customers for human consumption. Respondent shall submit to EPA additional documents and information as EPA may reasonably request to determine Respondent's compliance with this Consent Order. EPA estimated this cost of the alternative water, assuming the soonest compliance deadline is met, and $1 spent per employee per day, working 5 days per week, a value of $130,000.
