On April 2, 2020, EPA Region III entered into a Consent Agreement with FTG Circuits Fredericksburg Inc., doing business as Colonial Circuits, Inc., of Fredericksburg, Virginia, (Respondent), for alleged violations of Subtitle C of RCRA at its Fredericksburg facility ( the Facility ). The RCRA Subtitle C requirements are designed to manage hazardous waste in a manner that prevents the release of hazardous waste to the air, soil and water. The alleged violations involved a failure to properly contain, label, date and inspect various forms of hazardous waste. The Respondent has taken corrective action steps to come into compliance with the RCRA Subtitle C and Virginia Hazardous Waste Management Regulations. EPA had informed the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality on May 15, 2018 of the proposed action and the state had no objection. The violations found increase the risk of the release of hazardous waste to the environment and could also possibly lead to human exposure to such waste. The parties agreed to a settlement penalty of $44,480 for the alleged violations.
