On April 9, 2020, Region 2 entered into an Administrative Order and Settlement Agreement under CERCLA with the Respondent, a redevelopment entity, for the upgrade of its aging bulkhead at the Gowanus Canal Superfund Site in Brooklyn, New York. This is one in a series of new bulkheads needed to provide structural support for the dredging and capping of the Canal, which is expected to begin later in 2020, subject to potential schedule impacts. It will also support anticipated future commercial/residential redevelopment work at the property. The work under the AOC is valued at $1,500,000.
