Summary

On May 5, 2020, the EPA-Region 1 Regional Judicial Officer signed the final order for the Palooza Beach, LLC expedited settlement agreement (ESA), addressing violations of the General Permit for Discharges from Construction Activities (CGP) at the Zero Tech Circle site in Natick, MA. The company owns a site where an indoor beach volleyball facility is being constructed by United Building Solutions, a division of United Steel. On Nov. 8, 2019, EPA conducted an inspection at Zero Tech Circle and determined that Palooza Beach, LLC and United Steel failed to have CGP coverage or a stormwater plan, which EPA confirmed through a Clean Water Act Section 308 Information Request to United Steel. Pursuant to the settlement agreement, Palooza Beach, LLC will pay a $4,400 penalty. It has submitted a Notice of Intent for coverage under the CGP and prepared a stormwater plan in accordance with the permit.
