On August 4, 2020, Region 1 signed an Administrative Order on Consent (AOC) for cleanup of the Route 279 East Site (Site), located in Bennington, Vermont by the Vermont Agency of Transportation and the Town of Bennington, Vermont (Respondents). The AOC is for performance of a removal action by Respondents, with EPA oversight, as described in an Action Memorandum for the Site signed on November 30, 2018. The Site is about 15 acres in size and includes an unpaved right-of-way contaminated by historical dumping.
