On October 1, Region 3 issued a Notice of Refusal of Admissions (NORA) to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection to refuse admission of a misbranded pesticide device imported Discount Pond Supplies through the port of Baltimore. The device is a UV-C pond clarifier which claims to control algae, bacteria, parasites, fungi, and protozoan. The product was not produced in an EPA registered establishment and was not labeled properly. It was determined to be misbranded. Sale and distribution of a misbranded pesticide device is a violation of FIFRA. The importer has the option to export or destroy the product.
