On November 10, 2020, Region 1 issued a Clean Air Act Administrative Order (AO) to Connecticut Children's Medical Center (Connecticut Children's). Specifically, the AO requires Connecticut Children's to comply with various notification, reporting and work practice requirements and to prepare and submit to EPA a site-specific monitoring plan pertaining to the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) for stationary reciprocating internal combustion engines, found at 40 CFR Part 63, Subpart ZZZZ. The violations were identified through EPA's review of Connecticut Children's emissions test report, dated December 2017, pertaining to testing conducted on November 1, 2 and 10, 2017 of the two engines maintained by Connecticut Children's.
