On January 28, 2021, EPA filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) against Westfield Electroplating Company (Westfield) resolving claims for alleged violations of EPCRA at its electroplating facility located in Westfield, Massachusetts. Westfield electroplates, anodizes, colors, and finishes metals and formed products for the aerospace and defense industries. EPA alleges that Westfield failed to submit TRI Forms for nitric acid and nitrate compounds processed in quantities greater than 25,000 pounds and cyanide compounds otherwise used in quantities greater than 10,000 pounds at its facility for the reporting year of 2018. Under the CAFO, Westfield will pay a settlement penalty of $55,862.
