On February 10, 2021, Region 3 filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order against UCT of Bristol, PA for improper hazardous waste management methods at its facility. In this administrative settlement, UCT has agreed to pay a $44,880 penalty and has certified that it has come into compliance with regard to the RCRA Subtitle C violations alleged in the Consent Agreement and Final Order. UCT manufactures solid phase extraction (SPE) materials, silanes, silicones and catalysts. In the Consent Agreement, EPA alleges that UCT stored hazardous waste over 90 days without a permit, failed to properly mark hazardous waste containers, failed to keep hazardous waste containers closed, failed to make waste determinations for certain wastes and failed to provide annual hazardous waste management training to its employees, among other allegations. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) was informed of this enforcement matter as of March 13, 2020
