On April 27, 2021, EPA Region 6 issued a CAFO under its authority pursuant to RCRA to 3M Company located in Brownwood, TX. The CAFO was issued in response to 3M?s failure to close and maintain proper storage of hazardous waste containers, failure to label a hazardous waste container with an accumulation date and a label indicating hazardous waste, failure to secure a closure device in the closed position for hazardous waste tanks, failure to control air pollutant emissions from hazardous waste tanks, failure to complete inspection of fixed roofs hazardous waste tanks, failure to make hazardous waste determinations, and failure to meet large quantity generator requirements for personnel training. The CAFO agrees that 3M completed the required corrective actions to return to compliance and requires 3M to pay a civil penalty within 30 days of the CAFO being filed.
