On May 17, 2021, Region 2 entered into an Administrative Order and Settlement Agreement under CERCLA with seven Respondents, including two redevelopment entities, for the upgrade of a section of aging bulkhead at four adjoining properties at the Gowanus Canal Superfund Site in Brooklyn, New York. This is one in a series of new bulkheads needed to provide structural support for the dredging and capping of the Canal, which began in November 2020 and is ongoing. The new bulkheads will also support anticipated future commercial redevelopment work at the properties. The work under the AOC is valued at $6,300,000.
