On 06/14/2021 Region 5 executed a Consent Agreement and Final Order against Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc. In it Region 5 alleges that Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc. committed multiple infractions of the RCRA including treating hazardous waste without a permit 3005(a); Not closing their hazardous waste containers; Not clearly marking their hazardous waste containers; Failing to maintain no detectable emissions; Failing to equip open ended valves or lines; Failing to equip tanks with a fixed roof design; Failing to make a hazardous waste determination; Failing to transport hazardous waste with a manifest; and Failing to label hazardous waste with the applicable USDOT regulations. Safety-Kleen Systems, Inc. will pay a fine of $350,000.
