On March 29, 2022, the United States and the State of Utah filed a joint complaint against Crescent Point Energy U.S. Corp. along with a Stipulation of Settlement and Order in the U.S. District Court of Utah. The settlement was signed and entered by the judge on March 30, 2022. The settlement requires Crescent Point to pay a civil penalty of $3 million for violations of requirements to control volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions from storage tanks at 30 previously owned oil and gas production facilities. The penalty will be split evenly between the United States and the State of Utah, and $1.2 million of the $1.5 million civil penalty owed to Utah will be deposited into the State of Utah's Environmental Mitigation and Response Fund for air quality-related projects.
