On September 23, 2021, EPA Region 6 issued a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) under its authority pursuant to Section 16(a) of the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) to OCI Melamine Americas Inc. of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The CAFO was issued in response to an alleged violation of Section 15(3)(B) of TSCA for failing to submit a Form U for 1,3,5-Triazine-2,4,6-triamine (aka, melamine ) to EPA in the manner required for the 2016 Chemical Data Reporting submission period. The CAFO requires OCI Melamine Americas to correct the violation and pay a civil penalty of $5,000. The penalty must be paid within thirty days of the filing date of the CAFO.
