On July 15, 2021, EPA Region 1 issued an Immediate Compliance Order under Section 113(a)(3) of the Clean Air Act to James T. Kay Company, Inc. of Meriden, CT. James T. Kay Company, Inc. was cited for failing to provide EPA with notification at least ten days before renovation work began at 766 North Colony Road in Meriden, CT. The order requires James T. Kay Company, Inc. to immediately comply with the Clean Air Act Asbestos NESHAP. The action addresses work conducted in late 2019 and early 2020 for which no specific environmental justice issues were identified.
