On August 31, 2021, the Department of Justice (DOJ) approved the Settlement Agreement for the Wampus Milford Associates Site in Milford, Connecticut. On August 5, 2021, Region 1 had referred to DOJ a proposed removal work and cost recovery Settlement Agreement under CERCLA Sections 107 and 122(h). The Settlement Agreement requires the Settling Party, FCI USA, LLC, to perform the removal work, and pay EPA its future response costs, all with an estimated value of over $1.2 million. Under the Agreement, EPA will compromise its past costs of $105,000. The Settlement Agreement will be published in the federal register for public comment.
