On December 22, 2021, EPA Region 10 filed a consent agreement and final order against SGL
Composites LLC for violations of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and
Liability Act (CERCLA) Section 103 and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Acts
(EPCRA) Section 304 for failing to timely report multiple Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN) releases from
their facility located in Moses Lake, Washington. CERCLA 103 and EPCRA 304 release reporting
supports emergency response efforts at the state and local levels. SGL Composites LLC agreed to pay a
penalty of $139,100.
