On April 28, 2022, EPA issued Administrative Order CWA-06-2022-1770 to the City of Rio Rancho for violations of the Clean Water Act (33 U.S.C. ?? 1251-1387). Violations were identified during a review of non-compliance reports, the permit file and discharge monitoring reports submitted for the City's Wastewater Treatment Plant. The violations alleged are for failure to meet NPDES permit effluent limitations and for unauthorized discharges. The AO cites NPDES permit violations for E.Coli, BOD, TSS, and Chlorine as well as for sanitary sewer overflows dating back to 2019. The AO requires the City of Rio Rancho to respond within thirty days.
