On May 23, 2022, EPA issued a Clean Water Act (CWA) Administrative Order (AO) to the Long Pond Water Treatment Plant in Blandford, Massachusetts. The facility is covered by a NPDES Potable Water Treatment Facilities General Permit that requires monthly discharge monitoring and reporting. The Long Pond Water Treatment Plant failed to submit its reports for three months in 2021. The AO requires the Long Pond Water Treatment Plant to submit the required reports to EPA within 14 days. EPA implements the NPDES program in Massachusetts and issued the 2017 Potable Water Treatment Facilities General Permit. EPA has coordinated with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on this matter.
