On December 7, 2022, EPA Region 10 settled with Cesco Solutions, Inc., (Bellingham, Washington) for violations of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA). Information from a January 2021 referral from the Oregon Department of Agriculture and a September 2019 EPA inspection of the company's Bellingham, WA, facility revealed that the company was distributing and selling unregistered and misbranded pesticides. In all, EPA alleged the company distributed and sold the unregistered pesticide, Zinc Sulfate, on 11 separate occasions (in violation of FIFRA Section 12(a)(1)(A)) and distributed or sold the misbranded pesticide, Cesco Solar Ray, on one occasion (in violation of FIFRA Section 12(a)(1)(E). The company agreed to pay a civil penalty of $54,987.00.
