On June 16, 2021, a representative of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency inspected Harless Oil in Polk, Nebraska, to determine compliance with the Chemical Accident Prevention Provisions. The EPA found the following violation: the facility failed to ensure the process is designed in compliance with recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices. Specifically, the bulk ammonia storage tank does not have adequate vehicle barriers, as specified by ANSI/CGA G-2.1-2014, Section 6.7.1. Respondent has ordered cement barricades from a local concrete company and will install them as soon as they are in stock.
