On September 29, 2022, Region 1 issued an Administrative Order requiring Val-Roc Corporation (Val Roc), owner of Val Roc Motel in Killington, Vermont, to comply with the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the Vermont Water Supply Rule by complying with licensed operator requirements, conducting required monitoring, and issuing public notices of non-compliance. The Val Roc drinking water system consists of one drilled well that provides piped water, year-round, for human consumption to a motel serving approximately 96 persons. Region 1 issued this Order in response to a request by the State of Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VT DEC) that EPA take enforcement action against Val Roc requiring that Val Roc return to compliance with state and federal drinking water laws administered by the State of Vermont.
