On May 9, 2023, EPA Region 6 issued Final Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to under its authority pursuant to Section 1423(c) of the Safe Drinking Water Act to Contango Resources, LLC (Respondent) located in Pawhuska Oklahoma. The AO was issued in response to violations of 40 C.F.R. Sections 147.2903(b), 147.2909, 147.2912(a) by failing to successfully demonstrate mechanical integrity of their injection well. The AO proposes to order the Respondent to successfully demonstrate mechanical integrity of the injection well, plug the injection well or convert it to production use. Respondent must respond to EPA Region 6 within 30 days.
