On May 17, 2023, EPA entered into a Clean Water Act Expedited Settlement Agreement (Agreement) with The Homes at Aro Estates, LLC, addressing violations of the General Permit for Discharges from Construction Activities (CGP) at the Aro Estates Tree Clearing site in Lunenberg, Massachusetts. An EPA inspection at the Aro Estates site revealed that several parts of the site, including stockpiles, were improperly stabilized. Pursuant to the Agreement, The Homes at Aro Estates, LLC will pay a $4,200 penalty. EPA implements the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System program in Massachusetts and the case team consulted with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on this matter.
