On August 24, 2023, EPA Region 6 issued a schedule Administrative Order under its authority pursuant to Section 309 of the Clean Water Act to the City of Farmington Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in San Juan County, New Mexico. The AO was issued in response to the city's violation of the NPDES Permit requirement to complete construction projects to reduce WWTP effluent TDS (total dissolved solids). The AO requires the city to adhere to a new comprehensive schedule to complete the required projects. The Facility must also provide written certification to EPA confirming the new project milestones are achieved and CWA compliance is realized.
