The Site is a commercial facility in Marengo, Iowa, where a fire and explosion occurred on December 8 and 9, 2022, which resulted in a release of hazardous substances at the Site. C6-Zero leased the property in order to recycle discarded asphalt shingles and use the fiberglass, sand, and oil in them. C6-Zero is liable as an operator under CERCLA ? 107(a)(1) and (2). The ASAOC will require C6-Zero to complete removal of hazardous waste at the site, as well as provide financial assurance in the amount of $3.5 million.
