On September 29, 2023, SEMD Director Paul Leonard signed an Administrative Settlement Agreement and Order on Consent for Removal Action (Removal ASAOC) with Parker Hannifin Corporation (Parker) for performance of a removal action for Operable Unit 2 at a portion of the North Penn Area 6 Superfund Site (Site). The Site is on the CERCLA National Priorities List. Respondent Parker will conduct the removal action at the portion of the Site located at the former Parker Hannifin Corporation property at 422 West Sixth Street in Lansdale, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania (Affected Property). The selected removal action at the Affected Property will include excavation and proper off-site disposal of soil contaminated with trichloroethene (TCE), a volatile organic chemical. The TCE in the soil at the Affected Property is a CERCLA hazardous substance contaminating the groundwater. The Removal ASAOC also provides for payment of Future Response Costs incurred by EPA in connection with the removal action. EPA has notified the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) about the Removal ASAOC, and PADEP continues to actively participate as the support agency in overall Site management. The Affected Property is in an area of potential EJ concern according to Region III?s protocol
