EPA and Red Star Yeast Company entered into a Consent Agreement and Final Order. In addition to a payment of penalties, the Respondent will complete a supplemental environmental project. Per the SEP, Respondent will acquire and purchase emergency response equipment for the Cedar Rapids Fire Department (CRFD) and the Linn County Hazmat Team (LCHT). Both the CRFD and the LCHT are local emergency response entities located in Iowa. The penalty and SEP address issues raised in the January 2023 EPA Inspection. The CAFO requires Respondent to comply with RCRA.
