On November 1, 2023, EPA filed an expedited settlement agreement (Agreement) entered into with Sunapee Cruises, LLC (Sunapee Cruises) located in Sunapee, New Hampshire resolving alleged violations of Section 311(b)(3) of the Clean Water Act. The Agreement stems from an incident on June 10, 2023 when 70 gallons of diesel oil spilled from a vessel's fuel tank and made its way into Lake Sunapee. The company responded promptly to the spill and reported the incident to the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services. The company agreed to a $8,064 penalty. The SPCC Program is a direct implementation program; however, the Region coordinated with and will notify the State and Coast Guard.
