On May 6th, 2024, EPA Region 10 filed an expedited settlement agreement resolving violations of the Riverside Water and Sewer District Wastewater Treatment Plant (Facility) National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit ID0024503, located in Orofino, Idaho. The Facility failed to develop and implement an Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Plan, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), and an Emergency Response and Public Notification Plan. Additionally, the Facility exceeded the effluent limit for E. coli. The Respondent has agreed to pay a penalty of $1,472 and has returned to compliance. The Facility is located on the Nez Perce Reservation an area with environmental justice concerns.
