On January 31, 2024, EPA Region 6 issued a Final Administrative Order (AO) under its authority pursuant to Section 1423(c) of the Safe Drinking Water Act to Contango Resources, LLC (Respondent) located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The AO was issued in response to violations of 40 C.F.R. ?? 147.2903(b), 147.2909, 147.2912(a) by failing to successfully demonstrate mechanical integrity of their injection well. The AO requires the Respondent to successfully demonstrate mechanical integrity of the injection well, plug the injection well or convert it to production use. Respondent must respond to EPA Region 6 within 30 days.
