On May 28, 2024, Region 10 filed an expedited settlement agreement resolving CWA violations of the 2021 Multi-Sector General Permit by Clearwater Concrete, Inc. at its ready-mix concrete facility in Kooskia, Idaho. Alleged violations included insufficient spill prevention measures and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) deficiencies. This enforcement action stands to prevent an annual discharge of 81 pounds of Biological Oxygen Demand, 870 pounds of Chemical Oxygen Demand, 12 pounds of Nitrate plus Nitrite Nitrogen, 19 pounds of Total Nitrogen, 10 pounds of Total Phosphorus, 5,224 pounds of Total Suspended Solids, and 99 pounds of Total Iron into the Clearwater River. The Respondent agreed to pay a penalty of $1,055 and took swift and comprehensive corrective actions to return to compliance.
