Summary

On April 16, 2024, the Regional Judicial Officer approved an expedited settlement agreement with Regal Auto Parts, Inc. d/b/a Brockton Auto Parts (Brockton Auto) of Brockton, Massachusetts resolving alleged violations of Section 301 of the Clean Water Act. An EPA inspection of Brockton Auto's facility (Facility) revealed that the Facility was discharging stormwater from point sources at the site. These discharges were neither authorized by an individual National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit nor the NPDES Multi-Sector General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activity (MSGP). Brockton Auto promptly worked toward obtaining MSGP coverage. The settlement requires that Brockton Auto pay a $10,000 penalty. The Facility is located in an area of environmental justice concern. The Region worked in coordination with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on this case.
