On May 3, 2024, EPA filed a Consent Agreement and Final Order (CAFO) to simultaneously initiate and resolve an administrative penalty case against Ocean State Jobbers, Inc. d/b/a Ocean State Job Lot (Ocean State Job Lot), a Rhode Island corporation with its corporate headquarters located in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. The CAFO requires Ocean State Job Lot to pay a $53,500 monetary penalty to resolve numerous past violations of the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA), as alleged in the CAFO. The alleged violations include the import, sale, and distribution of misbranded bug zapper pesticide devices. The settlement will encourage FIFRA regulatory compliance and help to ensure that misbranded pesticide devices are not imported, distributed, or sold in a manner that poses unreasonable risk to human health or the environment. FIFRA import, sale, and distribution requirements are enforced federally and not delegated to the states.
