On May 22, 2024, Region 1 issued a NORA to Mechatronics USA LLC for the attempted importation of an unregistered disinfectant product (Starrsed Disinfectant) from the Netherlands into the United States. The product is marketed as a disinfectant and is not registered as a pesticide in violation of Section 3 of FIFRA, 7 U.S.C. 136a. Importing this product is a violation of FIFRA section 12(a)(1)(A), 7 U.S.C. 136j(a)(1)(A), as a distribution or sale of an unregistered pesticide. FIFRA import, sale and distribution requirements are enforced federally and not delegated to the states. There are no known environmental justice issues associated with this matter.
