On August 28, 2024, Region 10 filed an expedited settlement agreement resolving CWA violations of the City of Cashmere's wastewater permit at its wastewater treatment plant in Cashmere, Washington. Alleged violations included failure to submit discharge monitoring data, failure to conduct required analyses, late permit report submittals and effluent limit exceedances for total phosphorus, biological oxygen demand, total suspended solids, and fecal coliform. This enforcement action stands to prevent an annual discharge of 2117 pounds of Total Phosphorus, 870 pounds of Total Suspended Solids, and 1,536 pounds of Biological Oxygen Demand into the Wenatchee River. The Respondent agreed to pay a penalty of $4,125 and have returned to compliance.
