On June 4, 2024, the Regional Judicial Officer approved an expedited settlement agreement with McConnell Enterprises, Inc. (McConnell) of Braintree, Massachusetts resolving alleged violations of Section 301 of the Clean Water Act. An EPA inspection of the facility found that the facility was discharging stormwater from point sources at the site through previously unidentified discharge points. After the inspection, the company constructed berms to eliminate stormwater discharge from the previously unidentified outfalls and installed a stormwater treatment system to reduce the levels of heavy metals in their stormwater discharge. The settlement requires that McConnell pay a $2,109 penalty. The Region worked in coordination with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on this case.
