Summary

On June 4, 2024, EPA issued a Clean Water Act administrative order (AO) to the Warner Village Water District in Warner, New Hampshire (Respondent) for alleged violations of the total recoverable copper limits contained in its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit. The AO requires the Respondent to provide EPA with a schedule for implementation of upgrades to the District's wastewater treatment facility in order to achieve compliance with the total recoverable copper limits. The AO also requires the District to complete upgrades to its wastewater treatment facility within 48 months of the effective date of the AO and to evaluate and update its staffing needs to comply with permit requirements. The Region worked in close coordination with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services in this matter.
