On April 24, 2024, EPA issued a Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) Administrative Order (Order) to the Tri-Town Water District located in Bridport, Vermont for its alleged failure to certify completion of its Emergency Response Plan required by the American Water Infrastructure Act by the December 31, 2021 compliance deadline under Section 1433(b) of SDWA. The Order requires the Water District to submit its certification within 30 days. EPA retains primary enforcement responsibility for Section 1433 of the SDWA but has communicated with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation on this matter.
