On September 5, 2024, the Regional Judicial Officer approved an expedited settlement agreement with Marine Professionals Northeast, Inc. d/b/a Scituate Boat Works of Scituate, Massachusetts resolving alleged violations of Section 301 of the Clean Water Act. An EPA desk-top audit of the facility found that the facility was discharging stormwater from point sources at the site. These discharges were neither authorized by an individual National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit nor the NPDES Multi-Sector General Permit for Stormwater Discharges Associated with Industrial Activity (MSGP). The company promptly worked towards obtaining MSGP coverage. The settlement requires that the company pay a $5,000 penalty. The Region worked in coordination with the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection on this case.
